🔰 Tips (what is a tension fall?)

① Squid hug an egi that sinks slowly

Plop Glide

Free fall (let go)Tension fall (hold)

After a jerk, keep holding the button. The line stays tight and the egi glides down slowly: that is a tension fall. Let go and it drops fast: a free fall. When in doubt, hold!

② Tap as soon as you see “Now!”

When a squid hugs the egi you get a signal. Tap right away to set the hook.

③ Watch the gauge while reeling

You reel while holding. When the tension gauge turns red, let go, or the line will snap.

④ Weed beds are a chance

When a weed bed shows on the seabed, pass over it: squid lay eggs and hide there, so they hug more. Drop into the weed and you tangle. Eelgrass (~1.2 m, sand), Sargassum (~2 m, tall), Low weed (~0.8 m). The taller the weed, the higher you keep the egi.

⑤ Strike at “something’s different”

Learn the usual rhythm when nothing bites: the count from jerk to bottom and how fast the line sinks. If the line stops before the bottom, suddenly speeds up, or goes slack, set the hook. Even if you miss, it may be on at your next jerk.

⑥ Squid get used to the same routine

Repeat the same jerks and the same fall and squid learn to ignore it (they get wary). When the bites stop, change the number of jerks (one, double, triple), add a dart, or switch between free and tension falls. A fresh routine catches their eye.

⑦ Four moves to mix

A jerk (tap) lifts the egi. A double jerk (two quick taps) jumps much higher on the second, giving you a long fall. A dart (swipe up) leaps sideways. A slack jerk (three to five quick taps in a row) twitches in place and works on sluggish squid. More than that just spooks them.

⑧ How to catch a boss

A boss is a huge squid that appears only in the right season and time, at a set depth. Check the boss hints in the guide. It is very heavy: never force it while it runs, and reel only when it stops.

⑨ Choose your gear and spot

Use the “Tackle” tabs below the game to pick rod, drag, egi and depth (shallow, normal, deep). Match them to the spot you usually fish.

Soft sounds
Vibrates on bites you would feel (punch, knock, run) and on jets. Vibration works on Android and similar phones only (not iPhone). Sounds are quiet and on by default (turn them off here)

PC: Space or Enter = tap and hold; dart = ArrowUp, wheel up, or a short upward drag

Full screen: on a phone, turn it sideways to play full screen, or use the “⛶ Full screen” button (Esc to leave on a PC). On Android the first tap also hides the browser bars. On iPhone, Safari keeps its bars, but opening from “Add to Home Screen” gives you a bar-free screen

      How to play
      1. Choose your egi: heavier sizes cast farther and sink faster. Size 2.5 for autumn juveniles, 3.5 for big spring squid. Shallow sinks slowly and snags less; deep sinks fast and snags more. Swap any time before a cast.
      2. Hold to load the rod, release to cast. After the splash, count the fall.
      3. Jerks: tap once. Two quick taps make a double jerk. Dart with the Dart button or an upward swipe (ArrowUp or wheel-up on PC). Lively squid love darts and doubles; on slow days, keep it subtle and fall longer.
      4. Falls: keep holding after a jerk for a tension fall (slow sink, drifting back toward you; bites show in the rod). Release for a free fall (faster). Squid only hug on the fall.
      5. Four kinds of bite: the line runs / a knock in the rod tip (tension fall) / the line stops (the sink stops) / the line goes slack (the squid lifted the egi). Tap to set the hook. Each bite gives a different window; light bites give less.
      6. Reel only while holding. Too tight tears the hook out; too slack and it slips off.
      7. Sit on the bottom too long and you snag. Three egi, five casts.
